At Kampala, Uganda:
Homestanding Kampala City Council took the opening match of their two-match, home-and-away series with South Africa's Supersport United FC 2-1. Robert Ssentongo (51') and Brian Umony (58') provided the scoring for the hosts.
At Tripoli, Libya:
Sudan's Al-Merreikh , with Haytham Tambal equalizing at 74 minutes, held homestanding Al Ittihad of Tripoli to a 1-1 game one draw. Mohamed Zubya (47') scored one for the hosts.
