Both Major League Soccer conference finals were played on Sunday.
Eastern Conference:
At Kansas City, Kansas:
Andrew Hainault (52') and Carlos Costly (87') each provided a goal as the Houston Dynamo knocked off Sporting Kansas City 2-0 on the road to capture the Eastern Conference playoff title.
Western Conference:
At Carson, California:
Landon Donovan (PK-23'), Mike Magee (58'), and Robbie Keane (68') each scored a goal as the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated visiting Real Salt Lake 3-1 to win the Western Conference crown.
The Dynamo and Galaxy will face each other at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California in MLS Cup XVI, to be played on November 20.
Houston twice won the title (2006, 2007), though, previously as the San Jose Earthquakes (2001, 2003), they also won the crown, but those records now reside with the current San Jose franchise that appeared as an expansion club in 2008.
Los Angeles will make their seventh MLS Cup final appearance, having won the championship in 2002 and 2205.
