At Berlin:
Thomas Broker scored the equalizer in the 64th minute, then, in the 71st, Gustavo Ramos scored an own goal as Fortuna Dusseldorf from the second division knocked off home-standing Hertha Berlin from the top flight 2-1 on Thursday in the opening contest of a two-game playoff for the right to play in the German Bundesliga next year. The return match will take place next Tuesday in Dusseldorf as Fortuna is attempting to advance to the top flight for the first time since 1997. Hertha, who won their way back to the top flight last season after a one-year absence, is attempting to keep alive Bundesliga soccer in the German capital.
