MLS: DCU, Impact, Sounders, Red Bulls, Whitecaps, RSL Notch Saturday Wins, Scoreless Cinco de Mayo In Portland

Seven games were played in Major League Soccer on Saturday.


At Toronto:


Chris Pontius (55') and Hamdi Salihi (75') each scored a goal in the second half as Toronto FC started the season with eight straight defeats (an MLS record to start a season) after DC United blanked them 2-0 on the road.


At Seattle:


Mauro Rosales scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute as the Seattle Sounders defeated the visiting Philadelphia Union 1-0.


At Vancouver, British Columbia:


Eric Hassli scored the winning goal deep into second-half stoppage time (90'+4) as the Vancouver Whitecaps came from behind to knock off the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 2-1.


At Carson, California:


Joel Lindpere scored the game's lone goal in the 19th minute as the New York Red Bulls defeated the struggling Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 on the road.


At Kansas City, Kansas:


Felipe Martins Campbell (29') and Patrice Bernier (PK-64') each delivered a goal as the Montreal Impact picked up their first-ever MLS road win, 2-0 over Sporting Kansas City.


At Sandy, Utah:


Alvaro Saborio scored twice (32', 55') as Real Salt Lake, despite playing the last 35 minutes plus with only ten men, still registered a come-from-behind road victory at the expense of the New England Revolution 2-1.


At Portland, Oregon:


The Portland Timbers and traveling Columbus Crew battle to a 0-0 stalemate.
