CFU Club Championship: W Connection, Valencia Advance To CONCACAF Champions League

Play in the CFU Club Championship took place this past Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday.

Group A, all games at Couva, Trinidad and Tobago:

Friday:

Joevin Jones scored twice(6', 81') as the W Connection smoked Caledonia AIA 4-0.

Sunday:

Densill Theobald scored the winning goal in the 34th minute as Caledonia AIA defeated Antigua Barracuda 3-1.

Tuesday:

Despite being held to a 0-0 stalemate by Antigua Barracuda, the W Connection clinched first place in the group and a berth in the group stage for next season's CONCACAF Champions League.

FINAL GROUP A STANDINGS:

1. W Connection (GP: 2; GD: +4; PTS: 4)
2. Caledonia AIA (GP: 2; GD: -2; PTS: 3)
3. Antigua Barracuda (GP: 2; GD: -1; PTS: 2)



Group B, with all games played at Kingston, Jamaica:

Friday:

Samuel Pombee scored the winning goal in the 29th minute as Valencia defeated Bayamon FC 3-1.

Ricardo Morris scored the winning goal in the 83rd minute as Portmore United blanked Boys Town 1-0 in a battle of Jamaican clubs.

Sunday:

Augustin Walson scored twice (6', 34') while Joseph Roody scored the winning goal in the 83rd minute as Valencia defeated Portmore United 4-3.

Marvin Stewart scored twice (PK-33', 55') as Boys Town blanked Bayamon FC 2-0.

Tuesday:

Paul Wilson scored twice (81', 90'+2) as Portmore United demolished Bayamon 5-0.

Despite a 0-0 draw with Boys Town, Valencia won the group and a CONCACAF Champions League berth.

FINAL GROUP B STANDINGS:

1. Valencia (GP: 3; GD: +3; PTS: 7)
2. Portmore United (GP: 3; GD: +5; PTS: 6)
3. Boys Town (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)
4. Bayamon FC (GP: 3; GD: -9; PTS: 0)

Group winners W Connection (Trinidad and Tobago) and Valencia (Haiti) qualified for the group stage of next season's CONCACAF Champions League while group runners-up Caledonia AIA (Trinidad and Tobago) and Portmore United (Jamaica) will take part in a two-game home-and-away playoff with the winner also taking part in the 2013-14  CONCACAF Champions League.
