Major League Soccer on Thursday bought out the husband-and-wife owners of Chivas USA and will assume controlled of Los Angeles' other MLS club until new ownership, provided that it would be committed to keeping the club in the City of Angels,in turn, buy the team.
The new ownership may also change and rebrand the franchise.
Ever since Jorge Vergana and his wife assumed control of the Goats a couple of years ago, Chivas USA seemed to have converted into a farm club for Chivas of Guadalajara, which Mr. and Mrs. Vergana owns.
Since joining MLS in 2005, the Goats have shared the StubHub Center with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
