2014 FIFA World Cup: Luis Suarez Puts England On Verge Of Elimination; Another Win For Colombia, Who Advance To Knockout Stage; Goose Egges For Greece, Japan

Group-stage play in the FIFA World Cup continued on Thursday with three games contested in Brazil.

Group C:

At Brasilia:

James Rodriguez (64', that's him celebrating after scoring) and Juan Fernando Quintero (70') each scored once as Colombia held off Ivory Coast 2-1.

At Natal:

Greece and Japan battled to a 0-0 stalemate, which enabled Colombia to officially clinch a berth in the knockout stage.  Both Greece and Japan are still mathematically alive for a berth in the Round of 16.  Looks frustrating, doesn't it, folks?

1. x-Colombia (GP: 2; GD: +4; PTS: 6)
2.    Ivory Coast (GP: 2; GD: 0; PTS: 3)
3.    Japan (GP: 2; GD: -1; PTS: 1)

Group D:

At Sao Paulo:
 Luis Suarez scored twice (39', 85', that's him celebrating) as Uruguay defeated England 2-1.  The Three Lions will be eliminated if Costa Rica does not lose their Friday contest in Recife against Italy.
