MLS: Galaxy and Fire Draw; Rapids Too Much For Dynamo; Caps Hold Off Timbers In Cascadia Cup Clash

Three Major League Soccer contests were played on Sunday.

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Landon Donovan's equalizer in the 74th minute lifted the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 1-1 road draw with the Chicago Fire. Jeff Larentowicz converted a penalty kick for the hosts in the 68th minute.

At Commerce City, Colorado:

Deshorn Brown scored twice (5', 35') as the Colorado Rapids dominated the visiting Houston Dynamo 3-0.

At Portland, Oregon:

Pedro Morales converted two penalty kicks (16', 26') as the Vancouver Whitecaps held off the home-standing Portland Timbers 4-3 in Cascadia Cup play.  This marked the Caps' first-ever MLS victory over the Timbers (who had been coming off back-to-back road wins) and snapped Portland's 22-match regular-season home unbeaten streak.
