MLS: Reds, Sounders, Hoops, Timbers Rack Up Saturday Wins

Six games were played in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

At Toronto:

Jermaine Defoe's successful penalty kick in the 26th minute provided all the scoring in Toronto FC's 1-0 home win over the San Jose Earthquakes.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Pedro Morales delivered the equalizer in the 81st minute to lift the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 3-3 road draw with the Philadelphia Union, this after the hosts battled back from a two-goal deficit to take a 3-2 lead as Conor Casey (63', 71') and Sebastien Le Toux (68') led a furious Union comeback.  Erik Hurtado (18') and Nicolas Mezquida (41') delivered the Whitecaps' other goals.

At Landover, Maryland:

A failed stoppage-time penalty kick from Fabian Espindola enabled the Columbus Crew to gain a 0-0 road stalemate with DC United in the second half of a doubleheader played at FedEx field (the other contest saw Spain defeat El Salvador 2-0 in an exhibition match before the Spaniards set sail for Brazil to begin their World Cup title defense).

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Obafemi Martins scored twice (31', PK-38') before he was ejected via the red card in the 42nd minute while Lamar Neagle scored the game winner in the 78th minute as the Seattle Sounders held off the Chicago Fire (who also finished with ten men) 3-2 on the road.

At Frisco, Texas:

Fabian Castillo scored the winning goal in the 62nd minute as FC Dallas picked up their first win since April 19 by knocking off the visiting Colorado Rapids 3-2.

At Sandy, Utah:

Fanendo Adi scored twice (36', 45') and Will Johnson converted his team's first penalty kick of the season (73') as the Portland Timbers defeated Real Salt Lake for the first time in over three years 3-1 and won their third straight road contest.
