MLS: Fire, Sounders Grab Saturday Wins

Nine games were contested on in Major League Soccer on Saturday, with all kickoff times Pacific.

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Djordje Mihalovic (20'), Nemanja Nikolic (PK-29'), and Aleksandar Katai (66') each scored once as the Chicago Fire defeated the visiting Los Angeles Football Club 3-1.

At Seattle:

Raul Ruidiaz scored twice (22', 73') as the Seattle Sounders demolished the visiting Colorado Rapids 4-0.

At Washington:

Wayne Rooney (48', 81') and Paul Arriola (61', 78') each scored twice as DC United destroyed the visiting Montreal Impact 5-0.

At Columbus, Ohio:

The Columbus Crew and visiting Philadelphia Union battled to a 0-0 stalemate in a contest with major playoff implications for both clubs.

At Toronto:

Lucas Janson scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 53rd minute as Toronto FC dominated the visiting New England Revolution 4-1 to keep their flickering playoff chances alive.

At Minneapolis:

Angelo Rodriguez scored twice (20', 36') as Minnesota United knocked off visiting New York City 2-1.

At Houston:

Mauro Manotas (56'), Tomas Martinez (68'), and Romell Quioto (87') each scored a second-half goal as the Houston Dynamo battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to upend the visiting (and woeful) San Jose Earthquakes 3-2.

At Carson, California:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice (PK-4', 58') as the Los Angeles Galaxy dominated the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0.

At Portland, Oregon:

FC Dallas locked up a playoff berth after their 0-0 road deadlock with the ten-man Portland Timbers.
