Three games were contested on Wednesday in Major League Soccer.
At Portland, Oregon:
David Guzman (18'), Andy Polo (37'), and Lalas Abubakar (OG-49') each scored a goal as the Portland Timbers held off the visiting Columbus Crew 3-2.
At Seattle, Washington:
Fafa Picault's goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time lifted the Philadelphia Union to a 1-0 road win over the Seattle Sounders, ending Seattle's nine-game winning streak (and their 12-match unbeaten run).
At San Jose, California:
Josef Martinez scored twice (PK-70', 90'+5) as Atlanta United overcame a 4-1 deficit to knock off the San Jose Earthquakes 4-3, spoiling Steve Ralston's debut as the Quakes' interim head coach.
That fourth San Jose goal was disallowed after video review.
