MLS: Crew, Five Stripes, NYC FC, Lions, Revs, Reds, Rapids, Timbers, Galaxy Gain Sunday Wins; RSL, CIncy Eliminated From Playoff Contention

 Nine were contested on Sunday in Major League Soccer.


At Columbus, Ohio:


Krisztian Nemeth scored the winning goal in the 84th minute as the Columbus Crew prevented the visiting Philadelphia Union from winning the Supporters' Shield by winning 2-1.


At Atlanta:


Adam Jahn (8') and Marcelino Moreno (PK-26') each scored once as Atlanta United blanked visiting Cincinnati 2-0 to keep their playoff chances alive.


The defeat eliminated the visitors from playoff contention.


At New York:


In the latest edition of the Big Apple Derby, Valentin Castellanos produced a hat trick (12', 76', 84') as New York City overpowered the visiting New York Red Bulls 5-2.


At Harrison, New Jersey (due to travel and quarantine restrictions due to COVID-19):


Daryl Dike's goal in the 39th minute lifted Orlando City to a 1-0 road win over the Montreal Impact.


At Foxborough, Massachusetts:


Teal Bunbury scored twice (75', 84') as the New England Revolution came back from two goals down to upend visiting DC United 5-2 and deliver a crippling blow to the guests' playoff chances.


At East Hartford, Connecticut (due to travel and quarantine restrictions stemming from COVID-19):


Alejandro Pozuelo's successful penalty kick in the 84th minute carried Toronto FC to a 2-1 "home" victory over Inter Miami.


At Commerce City, Colorado:


Keegan Rosenberry scored the game winner at 42 minutes as the Colorado Rapids knocked off the visiting Seattle Sounders 3-1.


At Portland, Oregon:


Yimmi Chara scored the only goal of the match in the 61st minute as the Portland Timbers defeated the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 to move to the top of the Western Conference standings.


At Carson, California:


Cristian Pavon scored the winning goal in the 65th minute as the Los Angeles Galaxy held off visiting Real Salt Lake 2-1 to keep their flickering playoff chances while the guests' hopes of reaching the postseason were snuffed out.
