At Orlando, Florida:
Benji Michel scored the winning goal in the 84th minute as Orlando City secured a home playoff game after defeating the visiting Columbus Crew 2-1.
At Saint Paul, Minnesota:
Jose Aja (64') and Robin Lod (80') each scored once as Minnesota United came back from two goals down to gain a 2-2 home draw with the Chicago Fire.
Robert Beric (17') and Mauricio Pineda (52') each scored once for the guests.
At Nashville, Tennessee:
Ryan Hollingshead goal in the 19th minute was good enough for FC Dallas as the Hoops defeated Nashville SC 1-0 on the road.
At Portland, Oregon:
Kellyn Acosta scored the game's lone goal in the 83rd minute as the Colorado Rapids knocked off the Portland Timbers 1-0 on the road and clinched a playoff berth.
At San Jose, California:
Eduard Atuesta (OG-28'), Chris Wondolowski (37'; his 166th career MLS goal), and Cristian Espinoza (72') each scored once as the San Jose Earthquakes locked up a playoff berth by holding off the visiting Los Angeles Football Club 3-2.
At Carson, California:
Raul Ruidiaz's equalizer at the death (90'+3) lifted the Seattle Sounders to a 1-1 road draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Javier Chicharito Hernandez scored for the now-eliminated hosts in the 78th minute.
As a result of Wednesday's results, the Vancouver Whitecaps were also eliminated from playoff contention.
