2008 UEFA Intertoto Cup: First Round Concludes

The first round of the 2008 UEFA Intertoto Cup concluded Sunday as three first-round two-match sets ended:

CENTRAL-EAST REGION:

At Soligorsk, Belarus:

Shakhtyor Soligorsk belted visiting Polish club Cracovia in game two 3-0 to take their two game set on aggregate 5-1.

Next for the club from Belarus: A second-round two-match set with FK Sturm Graz from Austria.

NORTHERN REGION:

The winners of these two series will meet each other in the second round.

At Turku, Finland:

Homestanding TPS Turku took care of matters in game two, beating Northern Ireland's Lisburn Distillery 3-1 to take their two-match set 6-3 on aggregate.

At Reykjavik, Iceland:

Despite losing game one at home, Riga bounced back with a 2-0 road win to capture their two-game set with Icelandic club Fylkir 3-2 on aggregate.

The second round of action will take place with the opening matches next Saturday and Sunday, with the return legs on July 12 and 13.
