Not Another?!

First CSKA Sofia, then FC Porto, now, as reported late last week, it could be Steaua Bucharest may next be on the chopping block as far as the 2008-09 UEFA Champions League is concerned.

Steaua were docked points in their domestic league and finished second in the table - and UEFA are considering expelling them from next season's European campaigns.

Porto have already been excluded for the 2008/09 tournament after being found guilty of trying to bribe referees during the during the 2004 campaign. The Portuguese club have appealed the decision.

UEFA president Michel Platini said: 'UEFA has to combat cheating. There has been the attempt to corrupt referees and we have very strict rules to allow us to exclude teams that have been involved in any attempts of corruption.

If this trend continues, there may be a shortage of teams taking part in Europe's biggest soccer club competition next season.
