At Asuncion, Paraguay:
Another double from Jorge Nunez (8', 15') helped Nacional salvage a 3-3 home draw in game two of their two-match set with Ecuador's El Nacional. This was more than good enough to send the Paraguayan club (who won 8-3 on aggregate) into the group stage of the 2009 Copa Libertadores, where they will be placed in Group Three along with Argentina's River Plate, Nacional of Uruguay, and Universidad San Martin de Porres of Peru.
As for the two groups that did not gain survivors from the now-concluded preliminary round:
