Sebastian Dominguez (7'), Lucas Romero (19'), and Jonathan Copete (51') each delivered a goal as Velez Sarsfield locked up a berth in the knockout stage with a 3-1 road win over Deportes Iquique, eliminating the Chilean club from the tournament.

At Guayaquil, Ecuador:

Cristian Nasuti (81') and Fernando Gaibor (90'+5) each scored a goal as Club Sport Emelec placed themselves on the cusp of advancing to the Round of 16 with their 2-0 home blanking of Penarol.

Jefferson Cuero scored the only goal of the match in the 23rd minute as Santa Fe eliminated visiting Cerro Porteno from the tournament with their 1-0 triumph.
