2011 Copa Libertadores: Cerro Porteno and Union Espanola Book Places For Group Stage

The preliminary round of the Copa Libertadores concluded with two games on Thursday.

At Amarilla, Chile:

A game-two 0-0 deadlock at home with Club Bolivar was good enough for Union Espnola as they won their two-game home-and-away series 4 points to 1.  The Chilean club will be joined in Group Four by Caracas FC (Venezuela), Universidad Catolica (Chile), and Velez Sarsfield (Argentina).

At Caracas, Venezuela:

Roberto Antonio Nanni scored what proved to be the series-winning goal at 34 minutes as Cerro Porteno (Paraguay) gained a 1-1 road draw in game two with Deportivo Petare and won their two-game series 4 points to 1.  The Paraguayan club will be joined in Group Five by Santos (Brazil), Colo-Colo (Brazil), and Deportivo Tachira (Venezuela).
