UEFA Champions League: Gunners And Shakhtar Take Series Openers

Two more games were played as the opening week of Round of 16 action in the UEFA Champions League came to a close on Wednesday.


At London:
Robin van Persie capitalises on poor decision making from Victor Valdes to bring Arsenal back on level terms



Goals from Robin Van Persie (78', seen here) and Andrei Arshavin (83') lifted Arsenal to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Barcelona in the opening game of their two-match series.  David Villa scored what might still be a precious away goal for Barca at 26 minutes.

At Rome:


Adriano slots home Shakhtar's third goal


Jadson (29'), Douglas Costa (36'), and Luiz Adriano (41', shown here) all scored a goal apiece in the first half as Shakhtar Dontesk stunned AS Roma 3-2 on the road in their series opener.
