The second and final week of preliminary-round action in the Copa Libertadores commenced on Tuesday as two teams advanced to the group stage.
At Chiapas, Mexico:
Antonio Pedroza (68') and Antonio Salazar (74') each scored once as Jaguares defeated visiting Alianza Lima (Peru) 2-0 in the second game of their two-match series and won the series 6 points to 0, to qualify for the group stage. The Jags will play in Group Six alongside defending champions Internacional (Brazil), Jorge Wilstermann (Bolivia), and Emelec (Ecuador).
At Atahualpa, Ecuador:
Despite dropping game two of their-two match set on the road against Deportivo Quito (Michael Quinonez scoring at 56 minutes), with the series deadlocked on points at three apiece, Independiente (Argentina) still advance to the group stage because of the better goal differential (+1 to -1 for the Ecuadorian club). The Argentinian club will play in Group alongside LDU Quito (Ecuador), Penarol (Uruguay) and Godoy Cruz (Argentina).
