CONCACAF CL: Goose Eggs In Columbus; Azul Top Santos In Series Opener

The knockout stage of the CONCACAF Champions League commenced on Tuesday with the opening contests of two quarterfinal two-game series.


At Columbus, Ohio:


The opening contest between two Major League Soccer clubs, Real Salt Lake and the homestanding Columbus Crew, a testy one with the Crew ending the game with ten men and RSL with nine, ended in a 0-0 deadlock.


At Mexico City:


Javier Orozco (56') and Christian Gimenez (67') provided the scoring that carried Cruz Azul to a 2-0 home win in game one against Santos Laguna.
