2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying: Dominican Republic and Aruba Take Series Openers

The opening round of qualifying from the CONCACAF region for the 2014 FIFA World Cup continued with two games on Friday.

At San Cristobal, Dominican Republic:

Domingo Peralta (8') and Jonathan Fana Frias (42') each delivered a tally in the first half as the Dominican Republic defeated Anguilla 2-0 in the opening game of their two-match series.  Even though this game was played in the Dominican Republic, this was designated as the Anguillans' home contest, since the British-administered island does not sport a stadium that meets international standards.

At Oranjestad, Aruba:

Erik Santos de Gouveia (13'), Maurice Escalona (46'), Frederick Gomez (74'), and David Abdul (84') each scored once as Aruba doubled visiting Saint Lucia 4-2 in the opening game of their two-match series.
