Three Canadian Titles In A Row For TFC

At Toronto:

In a match that originally started on May 25 but was abandoned after 60 minutes because of lightning and unplayable pitch conditions, Joao Plata (PK-51') and Mikael Yourassowski (61') provided the scoring this past Saturday as Toronto FC took game two (replayed in its' entirety) of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship Final at home 2-1 and defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-2 on aggregate for their third straight Canadian club championship.  TFC will take part in the preliminary round of the upcoming CONCACAF Champions League.  The Reds will battle Real Esteli FC from Nicaragua in a two-game series with the opening contest to take place on July 27 in Toronto and the return match set for August 2 in Esteli, Nicaragua.  The winner would advance to the group stage, playing alongside Mexico's UNAM Pumas, Panama's Tauro FC, and the winner of the Alianza FC (El Salvador)-FC Dallas series in Group C.
