CONCACAF Champions League: Sounders, Galaxy Win Group-Stage Openers

Group stage action in the CONCACAF Champions League commenced with four games on Tuesday.


Group A:


At Carson, California:


Adam Cristman (13') and Landon Donovan (60') each scored once as the Los Angeles Galaxy blanked visiting Motagua 2-0.


At Alajuela, Costa Rica:


Jonathan McDonald scored the only goal of the match (77') as Alajuelense defeated visiting Morelia 1-0.

At Torreon, Mexico:


Juan Enriquez (28'), Sergio Bica (OG-51'), and Cristian Suarez (74') provided the scoring that carried Santos Laguna to a 3-2 home win over Real Espana.


Group D:


At Seattle:


Michael Fucito scored twice (61', 67') as the Seattle Sounders overcame an early deficit and overpower visiting Communicaciones 4-1.
