CAF Champions League: Group Stage Play Ends As Al-Hilal Join Enyimba In Semifinals

Group stage play in the CAF Champions League concluded with two games in Group A played on Sunday.


At Casablanca, Morocco:


A 0-0 draw on the road with Raja Casablanca locked up second place in Group A and a berth in the semifinal round for Al-Hilal.


At Aba, Nigeria:


Enyimba defeated visiting Coton Sport 2-0, eliminating the Cameroonian club from the tournament.


FINAL GROUP A STANDINGS:


1. Enyimba International FC (GP: 6; GD: +6; PTS: 14)
2. Al-Hilal (GP: 6; GD: -1; PTS: 8)
3. Coton Sport (GP: 6; GD: -1; PTS: 7)
4. Raja Casablanca (GP: 6; GD: -4; PTS: 3)


Enyimba and Al-Hilal advanced to the semifinal round.


Next weekend will mark the beginning of the semifinal round with Wydad Casablanca taking on Enyimba in one two-game semifinal series, and Al-Hilal battling Esperance ST taking part in the other series.


The return matches will take place during the weekend of October 14-16.


The winners would meet in the two-match final, set to start the weekend of November 4-6, with the second game to take place the following weekend.


The tournament champions would travel to Japan for this December's FIFA Club World Cup.
