In a contest that was moved from Dnipropetrovsk to the Ukrainian capital because of the ongoing conflict between the government and pro-Russian separatists, Nikola Kalinic (50') and Evgeniy Shakhov (88') each delivered a goal as FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk took the opening contest of their two-game series 2-1. Tino Susic scored in the 47th minute to keep the Croatian club alive in the series.
At Reykjavik, Iceland:
Mauro Icardi (41'), Dodo (48'), and Danilo D'Ambrosio (89') each scored a goal as Inter Milan placed themselves in excellent shape for advancing to the group stage following their series-opening 3-0 road domination of Stjarnan.
