UEFA Champions League Playoff Round: Zenit, Dragons Grab Series Openers On Road; 1-1 Draws For Slovan and BATE, AaB and APOEL, Maribor and Bhoys

Five games were played on Wednesday as the UEFA Champions League's playoff round continued.

At Mairbor, Slovenia:

Damjan Bohar's equalizer in the 14th minute enabled NK Maribor to salvage a series-opening 1-1 home draw with Celtic.  Callum McGregor scored for the Bhoys in the sixth minute.

At Aalborg, Denmark:

Vinicius Oliveira Franco's equalizer in the 54th minute lifted APOEL FC to a series-opening 1-1 road draw with Aalborg BK.  Nikolaj Thomsen scored for the hosts in the 16th minute.

At Bratislava, Slovakia:

Robert Vittek's equalizer in the 80th minute enabled FC Slovan Bratislava to salvage a 1-1 game-one home draw with FC BATE Borisov.  Tomas Jablonsky's own goal in the 44th minute provided the scoring for the visiting Belorussian club.

At Liege, Belgium:

Oleg Shatov scored the only goal of the match as Zenit Saint Petersburg took the opening match of their series with Standard Liege 1-0 on the road.

At Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France:

Hector Herrera scored the only goal of FC Porto's series-opening 1-0 road win against LOSC Lille Metropole in the 61st minute.
