CONCACAF Champions League: RSL Victory Makes It Four US Clubs In Knockout Stage

Three games were played on Tuesday as the final week of CONCACAF Champions League group-stage action commenced.

GROUP A:

At Torreon, Mexico:

Six different goal scorers each tallied once as Santos Laguna demolished visiting Deportivo Saprissa 6-1 and won the Group A crown and a knockout-stage berth.

Final Group A Standings:

1. Santos Laguna (GP: 4; GD: +9; PTS: 9)
2. Deportivo Saprissa (GP: 4; GD: -1; PTS: 6)
3. W Connection (GP: 4; GD: -8; PTS: 3)

Santos Laguna won Group A and advanced to the quarterfinal round.



GROUP E:

At Tegucigalpa, Honduras:

Michael Arroyo's equalizer in the 88th minute carried quarterfinal-round-bound Club America to a 1-1 road draw with CD Motagua.  Erick Andino scored in the 16th minute for the hosts.

Final Group E Standings:

1. Club America (GP: 4; GD: +7; PTS: 10)
2. CD Motagua (GP: 4; GD: -1; PTS: 7)
3. Deportivo Walter Ferretti (GP: 4; GD: -6; PTS: 0)

Club America won Group E and advanced to the quarterfinal round.



GROUP G:

At Sandy, Utah:

Jamison Olave scored the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute as Real Salt Lake defeated visiting CSD Municipal 1-0 and won Group G and a berth in the quarterfinal round, which means, for the first time, four United States-based clubs advanced to the Champions League's knockout stage.

Final Group G Standings:

1. Real Salt Lake (GP: 4; GD: +3; PTS: 10)
2. CSD Municipal (GP: 4; GD: -1; PTS: 4)
3. Santa Tecla FC (GP: 4; GD: -2; PTS: 2)

Real Salt Lake won Group G and advanced to the quarterfinal round.
