MLS: Crew, Impact Clinch Playoff Berths; Hoops Clinch Western Conference Top Seed And CONCACAF Champions League Berth; No Playoffs For RSL

Three games were played in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

At Toronto:

Ethan Finlay (40') and Federico Higuain (90'+1) each tallied once as the Columbus Crew knocked off Toronto FC 2-0 on the road to clinch a berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs.

At Montreal:

Ignacio Piatti scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute as the Montreal Impact defeated the New England Revolution 1-0 on the road to lock up a berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs, making this the first time that all Canadian clubs reached the playoffs in the same season.  The game was played before the largest crowd ever to witness the Revs at home---42, 947 fans.

At Sandy, Utah:

David Texeira scored the only goal of the match in the 57th minute as FC Dallas clinched the Western Conference regular-season title with a 1-0 road win over RSL.  The Hoops, who now enjoy a three-point lead in the race for the Supporters' Shield,  will play in the group stage of the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League.  The defeat eliminated RSL from playoff contention as the hosts will miss postseason play for the first time since 2007.
