CONCACAF Champions League: Scoreless Draw At Home Good Enough For Tigres; Galaxy and Comunicaciones Draw In Guatemala

Two games were contested in the CONCACAF Champions League's group stage on Wednesday.

GROUP B:

At San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico:

A 0-0 home stalemate with Herediano clinched a berth in the quarterfinal round for Tigres.

Final Group B Standings:

1. UANL Tigres (GP: 4; GD: +2; PTS: 8)
2. Club Sport Herediano (GP: 4; GD: +1; PTS: 5)
3. Isidro Metapan (GP: 4; GD: -3; PTS: 3)

UANL Tigres won Group B and advanced to the quarterfinal round.



GROUP D:

At Guatemala City:

Rolando Blackburn's stoppage-time equalizer (90'+3) enabled CSD Comunicaciones to salvage a 1-1 home draw with the knockout-stage-bound Los Angeles Galaxy, whose goal came in the 84th minute from Alan Gordon.

Final Group D Standings:

1. Los Angeles Galaxy (GP: 4; GD: +9; PTS: 8)
2. Central FC (GP: 4; GD: -4; PTS: 4)
3. CSD Comunicaciones (GP: 4; GD: -5; PTS: 4)

The Los Angeles Galaxy won Group D and advanced to the quarterfinal round.

With all three Thursday contests each involving two clubs that had already been eliminated, the seeding for all eight clubs that clinched knockout-stage berths has been determined.
