Four games were contested on Tuesday as the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt Open Cup tournament commenced.
At Commerce City, Colorado:
Dillon Serna scored the only goal of the match in the 84th minute as the Colorado Rapids defeated the visiting Colorado Springs Switchbacks of the USL 1-0.
At Sandy, Utah:
After Joao Plata (68') and Juan Manuel Martinez (86') each scored once to enable Real Salt Lake to wipe out a two-goal deficit in a 2-2 regulation, which was followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, the aforementioned pair, along with Chris Wingert, converted their spot kicks as RSL defeated the visiting Wilmington Hammerheads (USL) in the penalty-kick shootout 3-2 to advance to the Round of 16.
At Portland, Oregoni:
Dairon Asprilla (34') and Jack McInerney (40') each scored a goal as the Portland Timbers blanked the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 in the only fourth-round match featuring two Major League Soccer clubs.
At Carson, California:
After a 1-1 deadlock in regulation time, Sebastien Lletget scored twice in overtime (PK-105', 115) as the Los Angeles Galaxy scored thrice in the extra half-hour and defeated visiting LaMaqina FC (the tourney's last remaining USASA entry) 4-1.
