The Major League Soccer playoffs commenced on Thursday.
At Seattle:
Seattle Sounders FC, playing their first playoff match, were held to a 0-0 draw by the Houston Dynamo in the opening match of a two-game total-goals Western Conference semifinal series, played in front of 35, 807 fans at Qwest Field. The series resumes November 8 in Houston. There is no away goals rule.
