UEFA Champions League Qualifying: Red Star Belgrade, Red Bull Salzburg, Dinamo Zagreb, Red Imps (At Bhoys Expense) Take Series Openers

The second qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League commenced on Tuesday with ten games.

At Baku, Azerbaijan:

Richard Almeida scored twice (PK-10', 27') as Qarabag blanked visiting F19 Dudelange 2-0 in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Beersheba, Israel:

Maharan Radi converted the game-winning penalty kick in the 90th minute as Hapoel Be'er Sheva took the opening match of their series with FC Sheriff 3-2, although the Moldovan club remained very much alive heading into next week's return contest.

At Wals-Siezenheim, Austria:

Jonathan Soriano scored the game's lone goal in the 83rd minute of FC Red Bull Salzburg's series-opening 1-0 victory over visiting FC Liepaja.

At Skopje, Macedonia:

Marko Rog's goal in the 30th minute carried Dinamo Zagreb to a series-opening 2-1 road win over Vardar.

At Oswestry, England:

The New Saints and visiting APOEL FC battled to a series-opening 0-0 stalemate.

At Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina:

Matija Katanec's equalizer in the 57th minute enabled Zrinjski Mostar to salvage a series-opening 1-1 home draw with Legia Warsaw.  Namanja Nikolic scored for the Polish club in the 49th minute.

At Tbilisi, Georgia:

Otar Kiteishvili (55') and Girogi Kvilitaia (PK-69') produced the goals that propelled Dinamo Tbilisi to a series-opening 2-0 home victory over Alashkert.

At Barysaw, Minsk:

Yury Kendysh (32') and Vitali Rodionov (68') produced the goals that carried FC BATE Borisov to a 2-0 series-opening home victory over SJK.

At Paola, Malta:

Aleksandar Katai (66') and Predrag Sikimic (75') each scored a goal in the final half hour as Red Star Belgrade knocked off Valletta 2-1 on the road in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Gibraltar:

Lee Casiciaro scored the only goal of Lincoln Red Imps' series-opening 1-0 home triumph over Celtic in the 48th minute.
