At Montevideo, Uruguay:

Gonzalo Maulella's equalizer in the 84th minute enabled Defensor Sporting to salvage a 1-1 home draw with Gremio.

Maicon Sousa scored for the Brazilian club in the 80th minute.

At Maturin, Venezuela:

Cristian Insaurralde (26') and Marcos Caceres (52') each scored once as Cerro Porteno blanked Monagas 2-0 on the road.

GROUP FIVE:

At Avellaneda, Argentina:

Lautaro Martinez produced a hat trick (13', 44', 62') as Racing Club doubled up visiting Cruzeiro 4-2.
