Lamar Hunt US Open Cup: Defending Champs SKC Ousted By Orlando City; Railhawks Get Scalp Of LA's Other MLS Club; Timbers, DCU, Revs, RSL Advance

Seven games were played on Wednesday as the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament's Round of 16 commenced.

At Boston:

Kelyn Rowe scored twice (5', 37') as the New England Revolution----playing their first-ever competitive match in Boston----defeated the visiting ten-man New York Red Bulls 4-2 in a battle of Major League Soccer clubs.

At Boyds, Maryland:

Dwayne De Rosario delivered a hat trick (34', 75', 85') as DC United, having a miserable season in MLS play, advanced to the tournament's quarterfinal round with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Union.

At Kansas City, Kansas:

Long Tan's first-minute goal stood up as Orlando City (USL Pro League) dethroned defending champions Sporting Kansas City 1-0 on the road.

At Frisco, Texas:

Kenny Cooper scored twice (37', 59') as FC Dallas defeated the visiting Houston Dynamo 3-0.

At Cary, North Carolina:

Overtime goals from Cesar Elizondo (92') and Brian Ackley (98') lifted the Carolina Railhawks (NASL) to a 3-1 victory over Chivas USA, the second straight win in the tournament for the second-division club at the expense of an MLS club from Los Angeles.

At Sandy, Utah:

Devon Sandoval scored twice (66', 97') as Real Salt Lake scored thrice in overtime for a 5-2 home win over the USL Pro League's Charleston Battery.

At Portland, Oregon:

Michael Nanchoff (9') and Jack Jewsbury (55') delivered the scoring as the Portland Timbers blanked the visiting, ten-man Tampa Bay Rowdies (NASL) 2-0.
