In the opener, Sony Norde's equalizer in the 85th minute carried Haiti to a 1-1 draw with Panama. Alberto Quintero scored in the 55th minute for the Canal Men.
In the nightcap, Clint Dempsey scored twice (25', 64') as the United States held off Honduras 2-1 to open their Gold Cup title defense. The victory was the Americans' 13th consecutive tournament-opening win.
