UEFA Champions League, Group G: Lyon And Zenit Draw; RB Leipzig Knock Off Young Eagles In Lisbon

Tuesday marked the opening of play in Group G of the UEFA Champions League with two games.

At Decines-Charpieu, France:

Memphis Depay's successful penalty kick produced the game-tying goal in the 51st minute as Lyon (pictured here) gained a 1-1 home draw with Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Sardar Azmoun scored for the Russian club in the 41st minute.

At Lisbon:

Timo Werner's double (69', 78') carried RB Leipzig to a 2-1 road win over SL Benfica.

Yes, that's former New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch, now the boss man for the victorious German club.

1. RB Leipzig (GP: 1; GD: +1; PTS: 3)
2. Zenit Saint Petersburg (GP; GD: 0; PTS: 1)
3. Lyon (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)
4. SL Benfica (GP: 1; GD: -1; PTS: 0)

NOTE:  Zenit Saint Petersburg scored a road goal in their 1-1 draw with Lyon on Tuesday.
