MLS: CityZens Clinch East Crown Despite Defeat; Revs, RSL Clinch Playoff Berths; Fire, Impact, Lions Eliminated

12 games were contested in Major League Soccer on Sunday.

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Jozy Altidore (59') and Omar Gonzalez (80') each scored once as Toronto FC gained a 2-2 road draw with the Chicago Fire.

Aleksandar Katai (68') and Fabian Herbers (77') each scored once for the Fire, who were eliminated from playoff contention, and who played their final home game before returning to Soldier Field in Chicago next season.

At Cincinnati:

Benji Michel's late equalizer (90'+1) carried Orlando City to a 1-1 road draw with FC Cincinnati.

Allan Cruz scored for the hosts in the 40th minute.

The visiting Lions have now played five seasons in MLS and are still awaiting their first playoff appearance as they were eliminated from contention.

At Columbus, Ohio:

Youness Mokhtar (69') and Pedro Santos (73') each scored once as the Columbus Crew knocked off visiting Philadelphia 2-0, ending the Union's hopes of winning the Eastern Conference title.

At Montreal:

Bojan Krkic's 81st-minute equalizer lifted the Montreal Impact to a 1-1 home draw with Atlanta United.

Julian Gressel scored for the Five Stripes in the 53rd minute.

New England's victory over New York City eliminated the Impact from playoff contention.

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

Teal Bunbury (66') and Gustavo Bou (89') delivered the goals as the New England Revolution locked up the last remaining available Eastern Conference playoff berth by blanking visiting New York City 2-0.

Despite the defeat, the CityZens still locked up top spot in the Eastern Conference and a berth in next year's CONCACAF Champions League.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

The New York Red Bulls and visiting DC United battled to a 0-0 Atlantic Cup stalemate.

At Commerce City, Colorado:

Jack Price (10'), Diego Rubio (45'+4), and Kei Kamara (72') each scored once as the Colorado Rapids kept their playoff hopes alive by dominating visiting FC Dallas 3-0.

At Kansas City, Kansas:

Sebastian Blanco (29') and Dairon Asprilla (PK-85') each scored once to carry the ten-man Portland Timbers to a 2-2 road draw with nine-man Sporting Kansas City to maintain control of their playoff destiny.

Krisztian Nemeth (30') and Daniel Salloi (46') each scored once for the already-eliminated hosts.

At Carson, California:

Michaell Chirinos scored the winning goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time as the Vancouver Whitecaps upset the playoff-bound Los Angeles Galaxy 4-3 on the road.

At St. Paul, Minnesota:

Carlos Vela tied Josef Martinez's single-season goals scored record with his 31st tally in the 70th minute as the Los Angeles Football Club gained a 1-1 road draw with Minnesota United.

Michael Boxall scored in the 75th minute for the Loons.

At Sandy, Utah:

Jefferson Savarino scored the game winner at 75 minutes as Real Salt Lake locked up a playoff berth following their 2-1 home victory over the Houston Dynamo.

At San Jose, California:

Jordan Morris scored the game winner at the death (90'+4) as the Seattle Sounders knocked off the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 on the road.
