Mauro Manotas (37') and Christian Ramirez (44') each scored once as the Houston Dynamo blanked visiting Minnesota United 2-0.
The Loons' defeat clinched the Western Conference regular-season title, and a berth in next year's CONCACAF Champions League for the Los Angeles Football Club.
At Commerce City, Colorado:
Nicolas Mezquita converted a penalty kick in the 85th minute for the winning goal that lifted the Colorado Rapids past the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1.
At Sandy, Utah:
Damir Kreilach's goal in the 75th minute provided all the scoring in Real Salt Lake's 1-0 home victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.
