Red Devils Stretch EPL Lead

Here's a rundown of Tuesday play in the English Premier League:

At Manchester:

Cristiano Ronaldo popped in two goals (47', 51') and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added another (59') as Manchester United overpowered visiting Wigan 3-1 to strecth their lead in the EPL standings to four points over Chelsea.


At London:

Didier Drogba's double (38', 72') powered Chelsea to a 2-1 home lead over Reading, only to see the Royals gain a 2-2 closing draw after the Blues' Micheal Essien scored an own goal at 85 minutes.

Nicolas Anelka scored the game winner at 57 minutes as Bolton came from behind to defeat visiting Newcastle United 2-1 for the second time this season, thus climbing to third place in the EPL standings in the process.

Jermain Defoe's double (58', 77') powered Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-1 home victory over Aston Villa.

At Watford:

Robin Van Persie's game winner (83') lifted Arsenal to a 2-1 road win over hapless Watford.

At Liverpool:

Middlesbrough and homestanding Everton battled to a 0-0 draw.

At London:

Portsmouth, thanks to Linvoy Primus' double (16', 38') held off homestanding West Ham United 2-1.

At Blackburn:

A 49th-minute goal from Benedict McCarthy powered Blackburn to a 1-0 home win over Liverpool.

At Sheffield:

With Stephen Ireland scoring his first goal for Manchester City (78') , the Citizens snapped a three-game losing streak, beating Sheffield United on the road 1-0.
