Soccer Sunday In The Netherlands

Five matches took place Sunday in the Dutch Eredivisie:

At Rotterdam:

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's hat trick (24', 48', 74') propelled Ajax Amsterdam to a 3-1 road triumph over 10-man Excelsior.

At Enschede:

Blaise N'Kufo scored twice (8', 71') to help propel Twente Enschede to a 4-1 home pounding of SC Heerenveen.

At Utrecht:

FC Utrecht, on goals from Gregoor van Dijk (9') and Robin Nelisse (17'), held off visiting Feyenoord Rotterdam 2-1 in a match in which both clubs were reduced to ten men.

At Waalwijk:

Romano Denneboom's tally (37') lifted NEC Nijmegen to a 1-0 win over cellar-dwellers RKC Waalwijk, spoiling Mark Wotte's debut as the hosts' new coach.

At Alkmaar:

Gijs Luirink (26') and Danny Koevermans (PK-40') provided the scoring as AZ Alkmaar blanked visiting FC Groningen 2-0.
