Shutouts In Six Of Seven Saturday French Matches---One Of Them A Scoreless Draw!

Seven games took place Saturday in France's Ligue 1:

At Nancy:

Benjamin Gavanon (43') and Carlos Henique Kim (71') provided the goals as AS Nancy Lorraine blanked visiting Marseille 2-0.

At Rennes:

In the only Saturday Ligue 1 match that did not end up with a goose egg for either team, Jimmy Briand's 72nd minute equalizer enabled Rennes to gain a 1-1 home draw with Troyes, who, nevertheless, climbed out of the relegation zone.

At Le Mans:

Marko Basa (31') and Romaric Koffi (77') scored for LeMans as they defeated visting Toulouse 2-0.

At Sedan:

Sedan, with goals from Gregory Pujol (29') and Nicolas Marin (33'), knocked off visiting Lille 2-0 for only their second league win of the season.

At Monte Carlo:

Three different goal scorers paced AS Monaco to a 3-0 home whitewashing of Sochaux.

At St. Etienne:

With three different players each scoring one, St. Etienne moved into third place in the Ligue 1 standings after their 3-0 home blasting of Valenciennes.

At Nantes:

Homestanding Nantes and Bordeaux battled to a 0-0 draw.
