MLS: Crew Top Philly; Becks Helps Galaxy Lock Up Supporters Shield

Major League Soccer's regular season concluded with two games on Sunday.

At Columbus, Ohio:

Guillermo Barros Schelotto (PK-14'), Emilio Renteria (42'), and Andres Mendoza (79') each tallied once as the Columbus Crew prepared for the playoffs with a 3-1 home win over the Philadelphia Union.

At Carson, California:

David Beckham (33') and Vitor Junior (46') each delivered a goal as the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated visiting FC Dallas 2-1, clinching the Supporters' Shield for finishing with the league's best record and an automatic berth in the group stage of next season's CONCACAF Champions League.

The MLS Cup Playoffs will get under way on Thursday.

The quarterfinal round will consist of two-game home-and-away total goals series, with no away goals rule in effect. 

Eastern Conference Semifinals (which will include two Western Conference teams, since all four wild card playoff berths are from that conference):

New York Red Bulls vs. San Jose Earthquakes:

Opening game this coming Saturday at Santa Clara, California, with the return match on November 4 in Harrison, New Jersey.

Columbus Crew vs. Colorado Rapids:

The opening game will take place this coming Thursday at Commerce City, Colorado, with game two taking place on November 6 in Columbus, Ohio.

Western Conference Semifinals:

Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders FC:

The opening match will take place in Seattle next Sunday, with the second game taking place the following Saturday in Carson, California.

Real Salt Lake vs. FC Dallas:

Frisco, Texas will be the site for the opening game this coming Saturday with the return contest taking place in Sandy, Utah on November 6.

The winners would play in the conference finals, both being one-game affairs taking place between November 11 and 14, with the conference finals winners playing for the MLS Cup title in Toronto on November 21.
