OLIMPIA KNOCK OFF SANTOS ON ROAD IN PK SHOOTOUT TO WIN CONCACAF LEAGUE TITLE (AND BERTH IN 2018 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE)

San Jose, Costa Rica:

Michaell Chirinos's goal in the 21st minute enabled visiting CD Olimpia to blank Santos de Guapiles 1-0 in regulation of Thursday's game-two contest in the CONCACAF League Final, which deadlocked the series at 1-1 on aggregate.  Then, with overtime dispensed with, Carlo Costly, Bryan Moya, Alexander Lopez, and Carlos Mejia all converted their spot kicks as the Honduran club won the penalty-kick shootout 4-1 to win the tournament and advance to the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League, scheduled to start this coming February.
