AFC Champions League, MatchDay #2

Group stage play in the AFC Champions League resumed with eight games on Tuesday.

Group A:

At Tehran, Iran:

Al-Jazira (UAE) held hosts Esteghlal FC to a 0-0 stalemate.

At Doha, Qatar:

Al-Gharafa defeated visiting Al-Ahli from Saudi Arabia 3-2.  Mirghani Al-Zain (2'), Saad Al-Shammari (80'), and Clemerson Soares Araujo (81') each talled once for the hosts.



GROUP A STANDINGS:

1. Al-Gharafa (GP: 2; GD: +2; PTS: 6)
2. Esteghlal FC (GP: 2; GD: +1; PTS: 4)

Group B:

At Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:

Denilson scored twice (37', 85') as FC Bunyodkor (Uzbekistan) defeated hosts Al-Wahda 2-1.

At Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:

FC Zob Ahan from Iran gained a 2-2 road deadlock with  Al-Ittihad as they overcame a two-goal halftime deficit.  Esmaeil Farhadi (50') and Mohammad Ghazi (52') each talled once for the visitors.  The hosts got first-half goals courtesy of Abdelmalek Ziaya (12') and Mohammed Noor (41').

1. FC Bunyodkor (GP: 2; GD: +4; PTS: 6)
2. FC Zob Ahan (GP: 2; GD: +1; PTS: 4)
3. Al-Ittihad (GP: 2; GD: -3; PTS: 1)

Group E:

At Melbourne, Australia:

Sasa Ognenovski (40') and Yun Young-Sun (85') each contributed a goal as Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma defeated Melbourne Victory 2-0.

At Kawasaki, Japan:

Joel Griffiths (37') and Wang Gangquing (65', 86') provided the scoring the propelled visiting Beijing Guoan past Kawasaki Frontale 3-1.

1. Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma (GP: 2; GD: +4; PTS: 6)
2. Beijing Guoan (GP: 2; GD: +3; PTS: 6)
3. Melbourne Victory (GP: 2; GD: -3; PTS: 0)

Group F:


At Changchun, China:


Hat tricks from Gao Jian (25'. 35', 56') and Johnny Woodly Lambert (43', 53', 57') helped Changchun Yatai demolish visiting Persipura Jayapura 9-0.


At Jeonju, South Korea:


Goals from Koji Nakata  and Yasushi Endo carried Kashima Antlers to a 2-1 road win over Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

2. Changchun Yatai (GP: 2; GD: +8; PTS: 3)
