Kosuke Kimura scored the game's only goal in the 43rd minute as the Colorado Rapids shut out the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 in Saturday's Eastern Conference Final and advanced to their first Major League Soccer championship match since 1997 (when they lost to DC United).
The Rapids will take on the winner of Sunday's FC Dallas-Los Angeles Western Conference final in next Sunday's MLS Cup final in Toronto.
