At Seattle:
With two key saves by Dan Kennedy (for his eighth shutout of the season)----and Alvaro Fernandez's unsuccessful penalty kick at 18 minutes---Chivas USA gained a 0-0 road deadlock with the Seattle Sounders. Kasey Keller racked up his seventh shutout for the hosts.
At Toronto:
Joao Plata Cotera scored the only goal of the match in the 77th minute as Toronto FC knocked off visiting Real Salt Lake 1-0.
At Columbus, Ohio:
Kevin Alston (OG-54'), Julius James (76'), and Emilio Renteria (81') provided the second-half scoring as the Columbus Crew stayed atop the Eastern Conference standings following their 3-1 come-from-behind home triumph over the New England Revolution.
At Washington:
Chris Pontius scored twice (45', 71') as DC United ended their seven-match home winless streak by demolishing the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps 4-0.
At Harrison, New Jersey:
The New York Red Bulls and visiting Chicago Fire battled to a 2-2 draw. Thierry Henry (8') and Joel Lindpere (64') scored for the Red Bulls while Dominic Oduro (16') and Sebastian Grazzini (24') tallied for the Fire.
At Chester, Pennsylvania:
With the newly acquired Freddy Adu starting and playing 62 minutes in his return to MLS and Sebastien Le Toux converting on two penalty kicks (33', 84'), the Philadelphia Union gained a 2-2 home draw with FC Dallas. Maicon Santos (15') and Brek Shea (45') provided the Hoops' goals.
At Santa Clara, California:
Thanks to goals from Caleb Folan (PK-39') and Jeff Larentowicz (72'), the Colorado Rapids came from behind to upend the hosts San Jose Earthquakes 2-1.
