UEFA Champions League Qualifying: FC Rubin Kazan, FC Zurich, Dinamo Zagreb, Wisla Krakow, Benfica Advance To Playoff Round; Rangers Eliminated

Wednesday saw the conclusion of the third qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League as the second game of each of the remaining twelve two-match series were played.

Champions Path:

At Malmo, Sweden:


Jiloan Hamad scored the series-winning goal at 80 minutes as Malmo came from behind to gain a 1-1 home draw with Rangers in game two and take out the Scottish champions 2-1 on aggregate.

At Bratislava, Slovakia:


With Ailton (58') and Gustavo Manduca (90'+3) providing the scoring, APOEL FC won game two 2-0 on the road against Slovan Bratislava and won their series 2-0 on aggregate.

At Plzen, Czech Republic:


Marek Bakos (56'), Daniel Kolar (60'), and Milan Petrzela (78') each tallied once in the second half as FK Viktoria Plzen held off visiting Rosenborg 3-2 in game two and took out the Norwegian club 4-2 on aggregate.

At Krakow, Poland:


Maor Melikson scored twice (42', PK-56') as Wisla Krakow took game two 3-1 at home over Litex Lovech and eliminated the Bulgarian club 5-2 on aggregate.

At Graz, Austria:


Roman Kienast scored the only goal of the match at 68 minutes as SK Sturm Graz defeated visiting Zestafoni 1-0 in game two and won their two-game series 2-1 on aggregate.

At Maribor, Slovenia:


Idan Vered scored at 10 minutes as Maccabi Haifa gained a 1-1 road draw with Maribor in game two of their two-match series and won the set 3-2 on aggregate.

At Zagreb, Croatia:


Luis Ibanez scored at 90 minutes as Dinamo Zagreb won game two at home, 1-0 over HJK Helsinki and knocked out the Finnish champions 3-1 on aggregate.

At Belgrade, Serbia:


Jelle Vossen's penalty kick at 58 minutes gained a 1-1 road draw for KRC Genk in game two against Partizan Belgrade, enough for the Belgian club to take the series 3-2 on aggregate.

Non-Champions Path:

At Piatra Neamt, Romania:


A 0-0 road stalemate against FC Vaslui in game two proved good enough for FC Twente as the Dutch club won their two-game series 2-0 on aggregate.


At Zurich, Switzerland:


Admir Mehmedi's goal at 58 minutes proved to be the series winner as FC Zurich took game two of their two-match set with Standard Liege 1-0 and the series 2-1 on aggregate.


At Kazan, Russia:

Vladimir Dyadyun (19') and Aleksei Medvedev (88') each scored a goal as FC Rubin Kazan defeated visiting Dynamo Kiev 2-1 in game two and won their two-game series 4-1 on aggregate to advance to the playoff round.

At Istanbul, Turkey:


Nolito's goal at 19 minutes sealed the series as SL Benfica gained a 1-1 road draw with Trabzonspor in game two and won their series 3-1 on aggregate.
