AFC Champions League: Cerezo Osaka, Sepahan, Al-Ittihad Take Series Openers; Suwon Bluewings Held To 1-1 Home Draw By Zob Ahan

The quarterfinal round of the AFC Champions League commenced Wednesday as the opening contests of all four two-game series were played.

At Osaka, Japan:

Hiroshi Kiyotake scored twice (56', 81') as Cerezo Osaka nosed out visiting Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors 4-3 in game one of their two-match series.  Lee Dong-Gook scored twice in the first half (6', 45'+1) to keep the visiting South Korean club in the series.

At Suwon, South Korea:

Park Hyun-Beon scored in the 66th minute as Suwon Samsung Bluewings salvaged a 1-1 game-one home draw with Zob Ahan.  Mohammad Ghazi scored what could be a precious away goal at 57 minutes for the Iranian club.

At Isfahan, Iran:

Sepahan took game one of their two match series with Al-Sadd 1-0 at home, thanks to Omid Ebrahimi's goal in the 13th minute.

At Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:


Mohammed Noor (45'), Osama Al-Muwallad (76'), and Wendel Geraldo (90'+2) each scored once as Al-Ittihad defeated visiting FC Seould 3-1 in match one of their two-game series.
