CONCACAF Champions League: Galaxy, Isidro Metapan In Quarterfinals; Rapids Eliminated

Two games were played on Thursday as CONCACAF Champions League group-stage play came to a close.


Group A:


At Tegucigalpa, Honduras:


Juninho scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute as the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated Motagua 1-0 on the road to advance to the quarterfinal round.  


FINAL GROUP A STANDINGS:


1. Morelia (GP: 6; GD: +6; PTS: 12)
2. Los Angeles Galaxy (GP: 6; GD: +4; PTS: 12)
3. Alajuelense (GP: 6; GD: +2; PTS: 12)
4. CD Motagua (GP: 6; GD: -12; PTS: 0)


Morelia and the Los Angeles Galaxy advanced to the quarterfinal round.


Group B:


At Metapan, El Salvador:


Paolo Suarez scored twice (50', 82') as Isidro Metapan held off visiting Real Espana 3-2 to lock up a berth in the quarterfinals, eliminating both their guests and the Colorado Rapids from the tournament.


FINAL GROUP B STANDINGS:


1. Santos Laguna (GP: 6; GD: +10; PTS: 13)
2. Isidro Metapan (GP: 6; GD: -5; PTS: 9)
3. Colorado Rapids (GP: 6; GD: -3; PTS: 7)
4. Real Espana (GP: 6; GD: -2; PTS: 5)


Santos Laguna and Isidro Metapan advanced to the quarterfinal round.
